Hello, and welcome to our blog!I recently made the decision, although only semi-conscious at the time, to publish the “blogs” that I have been writing for the past few years that chronicle the ups and owns of working with children. Over the past few years, I have been writing down little tid-bits about my days, my life, and my experiences as I grow up, and as the children that I care for grow up.If you don’t know me, let me give you a little bit about myself:

My name is Katie Gilliam Eibner, but I answer to almost anything, including the names of my parents’ pets that are now in pet heaven. I am the owner of North Star Nannies, a nanny agency based out of Arlington, Virginia. If you read the About Me section on our website (http://www.nsnannies.com/), you’ll read how a young business owner wants to come across to prospective clients, but here you’ll get to know more about who I really am…as a human, a wife, a sister, a daughter, a small business owner, and most importantly, as a girl who LOVES being a nanny and very often forgets that the children she takes care of are not her own.

I am originally from North Carolina, or “North Cackalack” as my Uncle Tom likes to call it, but I moved up to DC to teach high school Spanish. After failing miserably at finding a job after all the budget cuts, I went back to nannying for another local agency. When I finally realized that it just wasn’t in the cards for me to be a teacher at that point in time, I decided to make up my own job…from scratch.

I started North Star Nannies LLC in 2010, and I have fallen in love with all things “nanny”.

I don’t claim to be a good writer, and you will most indubitably find a million typos and grammatical errors in this blog, but hopefully you will be entertained. The goal of this “cyberspace” is to give people a bit of insight into what it’s really like to do what I do and to be who I am.

What you will find here: posts about what it is like to be a nanny (including the ups and downs), guest blogs from mothers and nannies on some controversial topics, information about crafts, events, and other local kid-related things, and funny videos, pictures or links just to brighten your day.I wish you all the best of luck as you read on, but I feel it is only fair that I also warn you about a few of my other interests that may pop up from time to time: zombies, cats dressed up as funny things, babies dressed up as funny things, my husband, pretending to be a Trekkie (yes, that means Star Trek), my family, and the Kia commerical where the hamsters dance to Party Rock Anthem by LMFAO.

Live long and prosper 🙂
